HISTORY OF THE UNIVERSITY
The ISCTE - IUL was
created in 1972, with courses in the fields of sociology and management, with
the objective of forming a new institution within the university "Veiga
Simão reform." Over the years the ISCTE developed in size and scope
completing their scientific fields.
In 1997, ISCTE
integrates the Foundation of Portuguese Universities and in 2005, the Council
of Rectors of Portuguese Universities (Crup).
In 2009, retaining its
character of public universities, ISCTE-IUL happens to be one of the three
universities that opted for the Public Foundation, managed in private law.
Alongside this change, the institute also changes the name to ISCTE - Lisbon
University Institute.
In 2010 acquires a new
organizational structure based on the existence of fifteen departments and four
schools: ECSH - School of Social Sciences and Humanities / ESPP - School of
Sociology and Public Policy / IBS - ISCTE Business School / IST - School of
Technology and Architecture.
